SERVE on a team

Interested in serving on a team at Hillcrest or just want to learn more? Check out our list of serving opportunities!

  • If you are interested in learning how to help run our A/V equipment for Sunday services, this team is for you! This team will provide all the training necessary for you to help us run our Sunday services in-person and online! Learn how to run the sound board, how to operate the camera for live-streaming and/or how to run slides for services! If you are interested in being a part of this team, your contact person is Joel Hitchcock and you can reach him at joel@hillcrestdekalb.com

  • This team helps us keep our buildings and grounds up and running! It sounds like a big task (and it is), but that's why we need so many different kinds of people! If you like to garden, this team is for you! If you like to "putz" around the house fixing this and that, this team is for you! If you are a tradesperson (electrician, plumber, hvac, painter, etc.) this team is for you! If you're a "projects" person, this team is for you! If you have experience getting bids/quotes from contractors and the like, this team is for you! If any of these fit you and you're interested in serving on our Buildings and Grounds Team, your contact person is Steve DeVlieger and you can reach him at stevedevlieger@icloud.com.

  • Do you love to hold babies? Are you an on-the-floor with preschoolers kinda person? Do you enjoy working with grade school kids? Whatever age group fits you best, we have a place for you on the Hillcrest Kids Team! Initially, we are providing childcare for Sunday services and special events. It is our hope, as we grow, that we will have a thriving weekly kids ministry here at Hillcrest! We need your help! If you are interested in serving on our Hillcrest Kids Team, your contact person is Patrick Andrus and you can reach him at patrick@hillcrestdekalb.com (**please note that you need to undergo a background check to serve on this team**).

  • Do you have a heart to serve our community? Maybe your heart breaks for the needs around the world? If you are interested in serving in either local or global missions (or both), then the Missions Team is for you! You can sign up to join the team as a whole and/or you can sign up to serve in one particular area of mission. Some of the things that we participate in already are: Network of Nations (a ministry to international students at NIU), Hope Haven (our local homeless shelter), Barb Food Mart (a local food pantry), Make a Difference (a mobile pack event for Feed My Starving Children) and several others! If you have a heart for missions, your contact person is Mary Strohm and you can reach her at strohm1@comcast.net

  • We are looking for people who have a passion for working with students grades 6-12! Maybe you're interested in helping with weekly youth groups (setting up, planning games, etc). Or maybe you want to be available as a host (to have the youth group hang at your house for gatherings) or as a driver for student ministry events. Maybe you'd like to chaperone retreats and camps? However you'd like to serve, our Student Ministries Team will be excited to have you. Your contact person is Patrick Andrus and you can reach him at patrick@hillcrestdekalb.com (**please note that you need to undergo a background check to serve on this team**).

  •  Calling introverts and extroverts alike! We are looking for a large group of people to serve our Sunday Services Team! This team includes greeters (stand by the doors and welcome people in on Sunday mornings), ushers (collecting our offering, helping people find seats, etc), working our coffee bar (prepping, serving, cleaning up our coffee station), helping with special coffee hours throughout the year, and helping to set up/serve/clean up Communion once a month. You can see that we need a LOT of hands to make this team successful! This is also a great team to "plug into" of you're fairly new to Hillcrest, as you'll get to know people each Sunday morning! If you are interested in serving on our Sunday Services Team, Joe Bothe is your contact and you can reach him at Joebothe@comcast.net
